“For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”

― Nelson Mandela

Lancaster Foundation is a Non-Profit Company set up in 2017. The company was founded with the core objectives of carrying out Public Benefit Activities (PBA), which are focused on poverty relief, community development for poor and needy persons and anti-poverty initiatives.

We work in partnership on projects run by South African NGOs and individual beneficiaries to create equality in a post-apartheid society. Amongst other endeavours, PBA’s conducted by Lancaster Foundation aim to facilitate Black Economic Empowerment by providing commercial finance (with minimal or no interest charged), loans or grants to beneficiaries, on a non-profit basis to facilitate projects in the retail sector in South Africa. Further, Lancaster Foundation aims to facilitate Black Economic Empowerment generally by empowering and/or implementing BEE initiatives in the retail sector.

By providing training to, supporting or assisting emerging micro enterprises owned by beneficiaries, Lancaster Foundation aims to improve capacity to start and manage their businesses. Additionally, by funding, facilitating and/or supporting social development projects of the beneficiaries or NGOs operating in the retail sector in South Africa, Lancaster Foundations hopes to provide those in need with the resources to alleviate poverty.   At present, Lancaster Foundation is proud to have supported the following organisations:
